MVM RECOGNIZED BY PORTLAND MAYOR, TOM POTTER

We were recognized along with some other well known organizations in a proclamation made at City Hall's, "Music Matters for Youth Day". Below is the actual proclamation. Check it out as it is pretty cool!

PROCLAMATION

MUSIC MATTERS FOR YOUTH DAY, NOVEMBER 2006

Whereas, the presence of music in the lives of youth can foster personal, social, creative and intellectual development; and

Whereas, music is a powerful tool to transform marginalized and at-risk youth; and

Whereas, our future thinkers and doers will have an advantage in the competitive economic world by integrating the artistic form of music in their lives; and

Whereas, many Portland non-profits have recognized the value of music for youth and have created programs that responded to this need; and

Whereas, the following non-profits are among those who have greatly contributed to bringing music back into the lives of the next generation: Old Library Studio, Rock n Roll Camp for Girls, p:ear, My Voice Music, Ethos, and Portland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

Now, therefore, I Tom Potter, mayor of the City of Portland, do hereby declare November 6th, 2008 to be, Music Matters for Youth Day, in Portland and encourage all residents to observe and celebrate this day.
